The instrument is composed of several tapering brass draw-tubes that show a heavy, authentic patina and allow the user to extend or collapse the device for focus and portability. Both the eyepiece and the objective lens are housed in dark, reinforced metal fittings, highlighting the rugged and functional construction of this historical optical tool.
