This Byzantine gold solidus features a frontal bust of an emperor on the obverse, wearing a crown and ornate consular robes while holding a globus cruciger. The reverse depicts a standing figure of Victory holding a long staff topped with a Christogram, flanked by Latin inscriptions. Both sides of the coin show the characteristic hammered texture and rich yellow luster of high-purity ancient gold.
